Towards the Alta Rocca

Preferably leave early in the morning and on a clear day, and take the road to Sainte Lucie de Tallano and Lévie from the A Madunina junction. You’ll then pass through Zonza (its racecourse is the highest in Europe, with harnessed trotting races in season) to arrive at the Bavella site.

At the rest area you’ll admire the Aiguilles de Bavella in the distance. Freshness guaranteed. Descend to Solenzara for a swim in the river.

On your way make a stop to visit one of the many typical Corsican villages such as Sainte Lucie de Tallano or Lévie, but also take a stroll to thearcheological site of Cucuruzzu.

A place steeped in history to discover the remains of a village, archeological remains. The visit begins with a staircase cut into the rock. From here, you can access the castle (casteddu di cucuruzzu), a fortress dating back to the Bronze Age, and continue on to the 8-metre circular tower (Torra). It was used as a defense in case of attack. This monument is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The pathway will take you to the 2nd remarkable site of Capula. This is a medieval fortification. Here you can see a prehistoric stele, as well as the ruins of a Capula castle. Open your eyes wide for a glimpse of the base of a dungeon.

A wonderful site for a family walk in the shade of the oak trees. Nature and history lovers will be delighted.
