Starting at the Col de Saint Eustache, the trail takes you to the summit of Monte San Petru (1,400 m). All along the way, the grassy ridge and granite formations sculpted by time provide a unique backdrop.
From the very first steps, the path plunges into a forest of oaks and pines, offering a soothing, shady atmosphere. The path soon climbs to an airy ridge, where the Corsican maquis perfumes the air with its Mediterranean essences.

🏛 The Sartenais
The area around Sartène, “the most Corsican of Corsican towns” according to Mérimée, is rich in heritage. Dolmens and menhirs bear witness to an exceptional megalithic past, while the cobbled streets and authenticity of the medieval town are a delight. Between the mountains and the coast, this is a destination where history and landscapes meet.

Stretching from the Alta Rocca mountains to the western coastline, the Taravu valley is renowned for its verdant landscapes and rural heritage. Between picturesque villages, Genoese bridges and rivers perfect for swimming, it reveals an authentic and soothing face of Corsica.
🗻 The Aiguilles de Bavella
The symbol of the Corsican mountains, the famous Aiguilles de Bavella offer a spectacular backdrop of jagged peaks and Laricio pine forests. A mecca for hikers, they are home to the famous GR20 and numerous routes offering breathtaking views.
🌿 The Cuscionu plateau
At an altitude of more than 1,500 metres, the Cuscionu is a vast summer plateau dotted with pozzines (wet grasslands) and crystal-clear streams. In summer, herds of cows and free-roaming horses graze peacefully here. An ideal spot for hikers in search of wide open spaces and fresh air.
⛰ La Punta Capella
Dominating the Taravu valley, Punta Capella is a summit offering impressive panoramic views inland and all the way to the coast. Less popular than Bavella, it attracts hikers in search of tranquillity and unspoilt scenery.

With its astonishing rock formations, historic remains and majestic viewpoints, every bend in the path holds a surprise in store. Monte San Petru is also a place of remembrance. At the summit, a stele pays tribute to the victims of the 1981 air crash.
