Protected natural sites in the Sartenais Valinco Taravo area

With its wild beaches, unspoilt wetlands and majestic peaks, the Sartenais Valinco Taravo region is a unique showcase of biodiversity.

Here, nature has retained all its authenticity, thanks to careful management and the protection of emblematic sites by the Conservatoire du Littoral, the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse and the Natura 2000 network.

🌊 The protected coastline

  • Campomoro – Senetosa
Classified and acquired by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this site of over 2,000 hectares is a veritable natural sanctuary. Between Genoese towers, secret coves and coastal paths, it offers an immersion into a wild and unspoilt maritime Corsica.
  • Belvedere – Campomoro marine reserve
Adjacent to the protected terrestrial site, this marine reserve ensures the conservation of Posidonia meadows and rocky bottoms, veritable nurseries for Mediterranean fauna.
  • Roccapina
Protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this site is famous for its stone lion and immaculate beach. Granite cliffs and dense scrubland make it a mecca for Corsican biodiversity.
  • Capu Laurosu beach
Protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this vast sandy beach is a remarkable natural area, renowned for its open landscapes and unspoilt dunes.
  • Capicciolu – Olmeto
Part of the Natura 2000 network, this protected site is home to rare plant species such as Anchusa crispa. Its wild beach, bordered by scrubland, remains a special place for preserving coastal biodiversity.
  • Baracci
This natural site, where river and sea meet, is protected for its rich habitats and unique landscapes. The Conservatoire du Littoral has acquired land here to ensure the preservation of this fragile environment.

🌿 Inner wealth

  • Capu Lauroso
Dominating the valley, this emblematic hill is a protected natural area. Its maquis is home to many species, and it offers spectacular views over the Gulf of Valinco.
  • The Taravo River
The backbone of the region, the Taravo River winds its way from the mountains in the centre of the island to the Gulf of Valinco. It has been awarded the“Wild River” label for the exceptional quality of its water, the richness of its aquatic ecosystems and the preservation of its natural banks. The Taravo is an ideal habitat for a number of endemic species, and an ideal place to recharge your batteries for nature lovers and ramblers.
  • The Tanchiccia lagoon
Listed as a Natura 2000 site and a sensitive natural area, this wetland is a paradise for migratory birds. Footbridges have been installed to allow visitors to explore the site without disturbing its ecological balance.
