Agropastoral tradition

The Sartenais-Valinco region doesn’t just seduce with its spectacular landscapes: it reveals itself through the gestures, traditions and flavours that punctuate the daily lives of its inhabitants. Between the generous sea, the protective mountains and the fertile valleys, this region of southern Corsica embodies an ancestral art of living, where every product tells a story and every craft perpetuates a memory.

The treasures of the Mediterranean

Artisanal fishing in Corsica, and particularly in Valinco, is based on know-how that respects the environment and marine resources. Island fishermen adopt traditional methods of line, troll or net fishing to catch fresh fish such as bass, tuna or sea bream. These Mediterranean products, sold directly on local markets, are of exceptional quality and bear witness to the deep bond between these fishermen and the sea.

Naturally Corsica

Shepherds have long shaped the history of Corsica through their work. With its rugged terrain and diverse landscapes, the island is a mountain in the sea, with agro-pastoral traditions going back many centuries. In the heart of the villages and valleys, discover the authenticity of the Corsican soul through its ancient trades and art of living. Livestock farming, mainly goats and sheep, plays a central role in Corsican agriculture. Pastoralism is a way of life that has been handed down from generation to generation, and has given rise to a multitude of island specialities, such as brocciu, tomme sartenaise, Corsican charcuterie and veal tigré, all of which are treasures of flavour that bear witness to the island’s rich gastronomic heritage.

A taste of an island

Corsican agriculture is characterised by a variety of crops adapted to the island’s micro-climates. Olive groves, which grow on steep terrain, produce oils of exceptional quality, often with PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) certification. Similarly, wine-growing, particularly in the Sartenais region, produces Corsican wines renowned for their unique character, and are now world-famous.
