Wines: the Sartène PDO

In the heart of southern Corsica, between sea and mountains, the vineyards of the Sartène PDO flourish on land of character. Here, the vines cling to the granite hills, bathed in sunshine and caressed by the sea breezes. A unique environment that gives birth to exceptional wines, at once distinctive, elegant and deeply rooted in their island terroir.

Vineyards between tradition and Corsican identity

Recognised as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) since 1976, the Sartène PDO covers the communes of Sartène, Fozzano, Giuncheto, Grossa, Belvédère-Campomoro and Olmeto. The winegrowing estates are made up of small family-run estates, which perpetuate ancestral winegrowing know-how where tradition rubs shoulders with innovation.

The emblematic grape varieties of Corsica: Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu, are expressed here with finesse and authenticity, in full-bodied red wines, fruity, delicate rosés, and lively, floral whites.

A wine tourism experience

Visiting the wine estates of the Sartène PDO means meeting passionate winegrowers, often established for several generations.

The programme includes cellar tastings, vineyard walks, guided tours and the discovery of environmentally-friendly practices, often organic farming.

Every Friday, the Sartenais-Valinco-Taravo Tourist Office offers a discovery trip to the heart of one of the Sartenais vineyard estates.

Each week, David embarks a small group of around twenty people, departing from the Propriano Tourist Office, and takes them to meet the local winegrowers.

To complete the ‘locavore’ experience, the wine tasting is accompanied by Corsican sausage and Sarten tomme, made respectively by our local producers, Salameria Cianferani and the Mallaroni cheese dairy.

Departure at 9am from Propriano Tourist Office and return late morning, return transport by minibus included.
