Literary conference by Armelle Petipa on her book "La troisième voix, à la recherche de Davia", on Saturday 25 October at 2pm, at the Médiathèque in Petreto-Bicchisano.
Summary:
Of all the people who have met me, all of them have admired me, of all the people who have known me, all of them could not help loving me.
For all of them, almost without exception, I am now nothing more than a pale flame in the kingdom of shadows...
Who still remembers my ephemeral soprano reign?
No one... except, it seems, this strange silhouette who strides into my night, determined to untie all the spells attached to the faraway name of Davia.
This silhouette is that of Éliane Saviani, heiress to the estate of Les vignes du Seigneur in Ravello.
The discovery of an old photograph sets the intrepid thirty-year-old off on a dizzying investigation. Obsessed by the image of this "virginal creature of troubling beauty", Éliane embarks on a hunt for the truth that takes her to the Mediterranean, in the footsteps of the third greatest voice of Algiers.
Along the way, the young teacher meets her literary alter ego, Hadrien Romanelli.
One evening, Hadrien tells her about the tragic death of his mother in a car accident four years earlier.
This confession brings Éliane, recently bereaved, closer to this young man of sultry charm.
But despite her budding passion, a few days later she flies back to Algiers, more helpless than ever.
At Hadrien's house, she has discovered a photograph of a young blonde woman, a perfect replica of a portrait painted by Hadrien himself, which he holds dear to his heart.
All Éliane receives as clues are the confusing instructions engraved on the back of the photo of the enigmatic Elena, and a handwritten rebus by Hadrian.
The daughter of the Saviani clan ends up tasting, in Algeria, the charms of an Orient she has only dreamt of...
But will she discover the whole truth about Davia and the equally elusive Hadrian?
