Barbaresques: a permanent exhibition in the tower at Campomoro. After having been accompanied by the imaginary character ?Antò, u torregianu? along the footpath to the tower, you reach the entrance gate in the surrounding wall. Inside the tower, an original exhibition presents the history of the tower, paying special attention to the site, the building and the atmosphere of the location. The construction of the tower is explained via a dozen scenes created by a designer. Browsing through the pages fixed to a tall mast, you can explore the major events of this troubled period at your own pace, learning all about the arrival of the Turks, coral fishing, the sack of Sartène, the early construction of the tower and the production of lime. Thanks to a planisphere, you can find your location and appreciate the strategic importance of the site, enabling a better understanding of the role of the different towers built along the coasts where the Genoese wanted to develop coral farming. With one simple gesture, you can spin the wheel and head back in time to the Mediterranean of yesteryear, the ?guerres de course? (privateer wars) between Muslims and Christians, the construction of the tower and its builders. The workings of these displays brings the site to life, stimulating discussion and a sense of understanding of the period.
