During her residency at the Auvray-Nauroy school, director trainee Anaïs Lechiara explored Heiner Müller's Médée Matériau in an intense one-woman show.
Originally from Corsica, she draws on her island heritage to explore the themes of memory, exile and transmission. Médée becomes the mirror of a land scarred by violence but in search of healing.
In this version, Medea's words are raw, political and liberating.
Anaïs imagines a liberated figure, traversed by the voices of the past, but looking towards a possible rebirth.
Combining theatre, direction, costumes and set design, Anaïs has created a complete and singular vision of the stage: a space for memory as much as for reinvention.

Medea loves Jason.
For his sake, she murders his brother, flees aboard the Argos and becomes the mother of his two sons.
Driven by ambition, Jason decides to repudiate her and marry Creuse, daughter of the king of Corinth.
Medea, the foreigner, is then condemned to exile and, driven by an instinct for revenge, chooses to cross every boundary by burning her rival and slitting her own children's throats.
