Once built around a castle which has since disappeared, this village is situated on the N196, halfway between Propriano and Ajaccio at the foot of San Petru mountain, which stands at an altitude of 1,400m. Not to be missed: St François monastery and its wooden sculpture of Christ; St Nicolas church, rebuilt in 1870; numerous fine village houses with their wealth of architectural detail; the Festival du Taravo (mid July) which includes events and workshops based on various aspects of Corsican culture; the Dolmen de Settiva; and the Genoese bridge at Abra, which can be seen from the N196 a few kilometres after the village in the direction of Ajaccio.
