The I STANTARI and RINAGHJU alignments are megalithic monuments made up of standing stones, menhirs and granite statue-menhirs, evidence of human occupation of the site from the Neolithic period onwards. Some of these armed menhir statues are typical of primitive island art and have contributed to the site's reputation.
The site also boasts the DOLMEN DE FUNTANACCIA, the best-preserved in Corsica.
We recommend that you combine this visit with one to the Musée Départemental de Préhistoire in Sartène, which displays a wealth of artefacts from archaeological digs in the region.
There are currently over 900 menhirs in Corsica, mainly in southern Corsica and more particularly in the Sartène region.
