The Église Santa Maria Assunta in Santa-Maria-Figaniella dates from the mid 12C. The façade of the church has a single doorway and above the lintel there is a window with a semi-circular archivolt. A frieze of modillions is separated from the gable by redans. The square-based bell tower comprises three storeys adorned with openwork. The top of the tower (not Romanesque) is typical of the region. The same decor of modillions and redans on the façade can also be seen on the semi-circular chevet and the gable. The church has retained its early roofing of ""teghje"" (a type of Corsican stone). The modillions are adorned with an alternating decor of human faces, coiled snakes, geometric motifs and animal figures. The interior has not retained a harmonious Romanesque style. The choir has been walled off and is not visible.
