As part of its off-site programme, the Théâtre municipal is offering "Les polyphonies du Valinco", an exceptional series of polyphonic singing concerts in Propriano church on 11, 18 and 25 September.
On Thursday 25 September, the group SPARTIMU will bring the sound of polyphonic song to the church of Notre Dame de la Miséricorde.
Entirely devoted to traditional polyphony, the Spartimu ensemble has been exploring Corsica's oral traditions for several years.
Based on musicological research and the practice of 'cantu in paghjella', the ensemble's projects also combine the repertoires of several countries belonging to this vast geographical area that stretches from Mediterranean Europe to the peaks of the Caucasus.
These encounters between music, repertoires and practices that are at first sight very different have become a trademark of the ensemble, attracting an audience that is ever more curious to discover what hue a new project will take on, what colour the ensemble will have chosen to adopt.
Spartimu is a regular guest at various international festivals. The ensemble has performed in Sardinia, Lithuania, Georgia, Chicago and Melbourne (Australia).
