Corsica’s origins

Wonder at the natural site of Roccapina in the commune of Sartène: its famous natural lion shaped by nature, its beach of fine sand, its preserved coastline and its museum “A casa di Roccapina. Come and discover this magical place in the Sartenais Valinco Taravo in southern Corsica.

Day 1Farmers' markets and archaeological site

Discover local flavours at thefarmers’ market in Petreto-Bicchisano, before visiting theprehistoric site of Filitosa.

Here emotion will overcome you as you discover these thousand-year-old stones in the midst of centuries-old olive trees. Continuing on to Propriano, stop off at Olmeto, a typically Corsican village offering aheritage trail through the narrow streets.

Day 2Roccapina

Set off to discover Roccapina: its wild beach, its bay with turquoise waters and its famous lion, a natural granite sculpture. For an exceptional panorama over the Sartenese coast to the far south of the island, climb the path through the scrubland that leads to the remains of a Genoese tower. On the way back, visit the Casa di Roccapina and its interpretation trail to better understand the history of the site. Make a well-deserved stopover at a farm inn and feast on authentic local cuisine.

Day 3Genoese tower

Campomoro, a typical little fishing village, is the starting point for a hike in a natural site protected by the Conservatoire du littoral. Walk up to the Genoese tower for a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Valinco, all the way to the Aiguilles de Bavella.

Day 4Sartène

Head for Sartène where you’ll discover a medieval town with picturesque alleyways. A little history through the audioguide or with the visit to the archaeology museum, which traces the human occupation of Corsica from the beginning of the 9th millennium BC to the end of the Iron Age.

    🕙 The tower is open every day from April to November at the following times:

    – From 4 April to 14 June: 10am to 6pm
    – From 15 June to 15 September: 9am to 1.30pm and 3.30pm to 7.30pm
    – From 16 September to 1 November: 10am to 6pm.

    Last admissions 15 minutes before closing
