Getting your furnished tourist accommodation classified

A furnished holiday let is a villa, flat or studio that is furnished and let to visitors for a short stay, without them taking up residence there.

Requirements: the property must have a minimum floor area of 9 m² if the kitchen is separate, or 12 m² if it includes a kitchenette.

Before taking any steps, I carry out a self-assessment using the classification guidelines to identify the star rating that corresponds to my holiday let – from 1 to 5 stars – and to check its eligibility.

1. I want to have my holiday let classified as 1 to 5 stars

I contact the classification department at the Sartenais Valinco Taravo Tourist Office, then submit my classification application form, duly completed and signed, comprising:

● the order form;
● the classification application form;
● the property description.

2. The inspection date is set 

Upon receipt of my complete application, I will be contacted within 15 days to arrange a date for the inspection. The inspection will take place within a maximum of 3 months.

3. The valuation visit  

This is carried out by the valuer, in my presence or that of my representative. Average duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

The furnished property is presented as it would be for short-term letting: fully equipped, clean and well maintained.

4. I receive my inspection report 

Within 30 days of the inspection, I will receive the inspection report together with the proposed classification.

5. My classification is awarded 

The application is processed by the Corsican Tourism Agency (ATC), which issues the classification order within a maximum of 2 months.

Unless I submit a written objection within 15 days of receiving it, my classification is valid for 5 years.

1 self-catering property: €225
Additional self-catering property: €100 (same location, same owner and same day)
Flat rate for 10 furnished properties = €1,000 (€100 per additional furnished property)
Follow-up visit: €100 for the first furnished property and €75 per additional furnished property; for more than 10 furnished properties: €500
