From Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August 2026, Sartène will be buzzing with pétanque as part of ‘A Buccata, a Più Corsa!’, a major event organised by La Boule Olympique Sartenaise and the Corsican Pétanque Committee.
Four days of competition, featuring events for young people, shopkeepers, women and men, as well as plenty of opportunities to socialise whilst enjoying the sport and culture of pétanque.
On Thursday 27 August, the festivities will kick off at 6.30 pm with the final of the 2026 BOS’TATINA circuit, which will be contested in doubles by 16 teams.
This opening evening will officially kick off the big weekend, with €1,500 in prize money up for grabs.
On Friday 28 August, it’s the shopkeepers’ turn with the eagerly awaited Dumè Furconu Challenge.
From 6.30 pm in Saint-Damien, teams will compete in triples in a friendly inter-shopkeepers’ competition.
Shopkeepers must participate as part of their team, and the rules specifically restrict the inclusion of licensed senior or junior male players.
The competition will be contested in Formulas A and B, with €1,000 in prize money and trophies.
The draw will take place at 6.45 pm sharp, with the first throw at 7 pm.
The entry fee is set at €50 per business.
On Saturday 29 August from 2.00 pm, it will be the young players’ turn to take centre stage with the Corsican Youth TaT Championship, an event that will showcase the next generation of Corsican pétanque players.
Finally, on Sunday 30 August, the competition will continue from 9.00 am with the 10th ‘Plus Corse des Concours Corses’ Regional Tournament, limited to 64 teams.
The format involves an A/B group competition, with a €20 entry fee per team, €2,250 in prize money, plus additional stakes, as well as a €250 bonus for the winner of Group B.
The women’s events will round off this great sporting weekend from 2.30 pm, with a women’s 2x2 departmental competition, contested in formats A and B.
The entry fee is €10 per team, with €200 in prize money plus the stakes.
Beyond the courts, refreshments and food will be available on site throughout the weekend, making this event a true celebration of pétanque.
