Description
Since 2018 and the festival’s inception, we have structured each edition around two key themes: supporting emerging artists and contemporary creation. Since the fifth edition, we have also been committed to promoting the works and performances of artists from the islands, regardless of the genre of the work in question. One of the festival’s missions is to support and assist contemporary island-based playwrights in the creation and dissemination of their projects.
This year, the festival is once again committed to this approach through the playwriting grant in the Corsican language.
Supported projects:
Prunu – Di u to sangue preziosu (2023)
Following a traumatic event, three young Corsicans are faced with an age-old choice: to live in the shame of dishonour or to seek to wash it away through violence and bloodshed.
Prunu explores the dynamics of honour and their role in the emergence of Corsican nationalism.
It is the story of a generation of young people on the island who have lost faith in the system and decide to reinvent customary law.
The Song of the Virgin Queens – Of Apples and Blood (2024)
How can the cycle of violence be broken? How can one live alongside murderers? How can one envisage the future when one bears the stain of spilled blood? Through these questions, the text opens up another realm of possibilities.
