Description
The Propriano church welcomes the Fiumicanti group for a concert of polyphonic songs.
"Fiumicanti: the soul of Corsica in music
Fiumicanti, a Corsican group, embody the vibrant voice and emotional depth of the island's traditional music. Since their beginnings, these musicians have made Corsican heritage a source of inspiration.
The group, founded around ten years ago, draws its name from the wild rivers and authentic landscapes of their native island. The choice of the name Fiumicanti means "singing rivers" and reflects their desire to echo the ancestral songs and untamed nature of Corsica. The band describe their music as "a reflection of Corsican mountains, forests and villages", taking audiences on a journey to the heart of the island's culture and emotions.
Fiumicanti's distinctive sound is a fusion of Corsican polyphonic songs and original compositions. The compositions on the new album feature powerful yet delicate harmonies, capable of telling stories of love, war and nature, and celebrating the links between families and generations. Their music evokes the nostalgia of shepherds' songs, while embracing a modernity that also appeals to a younger audience.
"We want every note, every song, to be a celebration of what sustains us: Corsica, its stories, its traditions". Fiumicanti is a way of telling people, whether Corsican or not, that they can feel the spirit of our island, even from afar.
A new album in preparation
With melodies that transport and voices that resonate in the soul, Fiumicanti continue to bring the spirit of Corsica to life. This passionate group reminds us all that sometimes the oldest traditions are the ones that resonate deepest in our hearts.
