Description

In'Cantu is a vocal ensemble devoted primarily to Corsican polyphony. Composed of Jean-Bernard Poli, Jean-Jacques Ottaviani, Bernard Ferrari, Franck Silana and Philippe Boulet, the group brings together artists from both prestigious groups (Canta u populu corsu, Caramusa...) and the opera world, driven by the desire to return to the roots of polyphonic singing, pure and authentic. In'Cantu aims to be a bridge in the transmission of the polyphonic tradition for audiences on the island, but also to bear witness to the vitality of Corsican culture for audiences from other horizons. Its repertoire is made up exclusively of songs performed a cappella, and includes both sacred songs (masses from Sermanu, Rusiu, Sartène, etc.) and secular songs (paghjelle, madrigali, terzetti, etc.), alternating between very old tunes and forays into contemporary creations. This tour de chant, a journey through the ages and villages of Corsica, is served up by voices of great harmonic and melodic richness.
