TOUR DE CAMPOMORO

Perched on a rocky promontory at the tip of the Gulf of Valinco, the Campomoro Tower overlooks the Mediterranean and offers a remarkable panoramic view of the coastline and the surrounding hills. Built in the 16th century, at 15 metres high it is the most imposing of the Genoese towers in Corsica. Its distinctive feature is its star-shaped fortified enclosure, which gives it a silhouette unlike any other on the island. Restored in 1986 and owned by the Conservatoire du littoral, it houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of Genoese towers in Corsica and the Barbary raids, illustrated by works by Rafaelli. From the tower, the exploration naturally continues along the coastal paths of Campomoro, amongst the maquis, wild coves and striking granite outcrops.
