Description
To mark the Filitosa Fair, discover ‘Tràmuda – Transhumance Muntagnera’, a temporary exhibition on display at the prehistoric site of Filitosa.
Conceived by the artist Giovanni Paddeu, this monumental installation in Corten steel comprises twelve sculptures inspired by herds on the move.
Through a contemporary artistic language, it pays tribute to the pastoral traditions of Sardinia and Corsica, as well as to the memory of mountain communities.
The exhibition forms part of the ‘Pastori è Muntagnera – Shepherds and Transhumance / Sintineddi di l’Arti – Guardians of the Arts’ project, which promotes pastoral heritage and supports the pilot project to restore the mountain pastures of Pian di Selva.
It also serves as a reminder that transhumance – the millennia-old practice of seasonal livestock migration – has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2019.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Saturday 1 August at 10.30 am at the Filitosa Fairground, in the presence of the artist Giovanni Paddeu and Paul-Jo Caitucoli, to mark the launch of the project.
The exhibition will then be on display throughout August at the Filitosa prehistoric site.
