Description
The Suarina group, “Corsican Women’s Songs and Polyphony”, will be performing in Olmeto on Monday 6 July and Monday 31 August at the church.
Suarina is a Corsican trio, made up of three young women bound by a deep friendship, who share a passion for music.
Thanks to these genuine and sincere bonds, they strive to create harmony, both in their art and in their relationship. Former students of the Università di Corsica, they met during music workshops at the University Cultural Centre.
Together, they are exploring new avenues.
Their music is the result of a fusion between the traditional technique of Corsican polyphonic singing and each member’s individual musical influences.
These influences, ranging from pop to world music, intertwine with their roots.
In this way, they enrich their repertoire and creativity whilst forging an original, universal and contemporary musical identity.
In 2023, Suarina had the honour of collaborating with Nolwenn Leroy on the track ‘Corsica Meia’ by the group Voce Ventu, as part of the album *Corsu Mezu Mezu 2*, produced by Patrick Fiori.
This project, which celebrates Corsica’s rich musical heritage, has enabled the trio to make a name for themselves on the national scene and share their musical world with a wider audience.
After an initial phase of covering and adapting songs, Suarina now presents its own musical world, blending emotion, tenderness, vocal power and modernity, whilst remaining true to its quest for harmony.
The three artists have since earned the trust of leading Corsican songwriters such as Alain di Meglio, Patrizia Gattaceca, Ceccè Lanfranchi and Ghjuvan Federicu Terrazzoni, who have provided them with lyrics of great poetic quality.
