A myriad of ideas is on offer to arouse your curiosity. Petreto-Bicchisano is a charming Corsican village that invites you to discover a rural, lively and unspoilt Corsica.

Getting there

Authentic Taravo village

Petreto Bicchisano, once built around a castle that no longer exists, is situated on the RT40. It lies halfway between Propriano and Ajaccio, at the foot of Mount San Petru, which rises to an altitude of 1400m.

Comprising two hamlets, Petreto and Bicchisano, it welcomes you to the Taravo region.

To this day, no trace of this mythical castle remains. However, the architecture of some of the houses, such as the lintels on corbels, suggest that they were built around the middle of the 16th century.

Petreto-Bicchisano charms visitors with its houses, narrow streets and ancient fountains.

Don’t miss The convent of St Francis and its carved wooden Christ, the church of St Nicolas, rebuilt in 1870, and many of the village’s “mansions”, which are part of Corsica’s heritage.

A place steeped in history and nature

The Abrà bridge

Nestling in a green setting between Petreto-Bicchisano and Moca-Croce, the Abrà valley is home to a little-known but absolutely enchanting natural gem: the Abrà bridge, an ancient stone bridge overlooking a wild, crystal-clear, unspoilt river. Today, it is the ideal starting point for a walk along the river, lined with polished rocks, small waterfalls, natural pools and lush vegetation typical of the Corsican maquis.
