Petreto Bicchisano, once built around a castle that no longer exists, is situated on the RT40. It lies halfway between Propriano and Ajaccio, at the foot of Mount San Petru, which rises to an altitude of 1400m.
Comprising two hamlets, Petreto and Bicchisano, it welcomes you to the Taravo region.
To this day, no trace of this mythical castle remains. However, the architecture of some of the houses, such as the lintels on corbels, suggest that they were built around the middle of the 16th century.
Petreto-Bicchisano charms visitors with its houses, narrow streets and ancient fountains.
Don’t miss The convent of St Francis and its carved wooden Christ, the church of St Nicolas, rebuilt in 1870, and many of the village’s “mansions”, which are part of Corsica’s heritage.
