Holy Week in Corsica is marked by numerous religious processions across the island. In Sartène, “the most Corsican of Corsican towns” according to Prosper Mérimée, a ritual that has remained unchanged since the 14th century takes place on Good Friday: the famous CATENACCIU procession.
Day 1
Take time to discover the town of Sartène and its history with the audioguide: the old governors’ palace, the churches, the watchtower, the typical narrow streets…
In the evening, enjoy the Catenacciu procession.
Day 2
Head inland along the Authentic Senses Route to meet the passionate producers who will welcome you and share their expertise. Natural cosmetics, wines with character, essential oils, honey, traditional charcuterie, typical Sarten cheese… you’ll find flavours to delight every gourmet at the Sartène market!
To round off the day in style, what better way than with an aperitif and a glass of Sartène PDO wine in front of a marvellous Valinco sunset?
Day 3
Take the road through the hilltop villages to Fozzano, the village of Colomba, where you’ll meet Corsica’s only artisan pipe-maker.
On the way back down through the Vaddi Malli forest, take the opportunity to discover a wine estate, where the history and secrets of the wines will be told to you by the winemaker.
In the evening, you’ll be carried away by the emotion of a polyphonic singing concert.
Day 4
As tradition dictates, Easter Monday is Merendella (picnic).
Board a boat in Propriano and sail to one of the secret coves in the Gulf of Valinco to enjoy a merendella on the sand, under the sun.
